This is a telecaptioner decoder. It is about the size of a toaster oven or a small video-tape deck and weighs only a couple of pounds. The case is metal and finished to look like a dark grained wood. A silvery strip across the front has all the dials on it. There are two push buttons, one marked power and one marked AFC. There are two sliding buttons, one offers the choice of C1 or C2, and the other has choices for TV, Caption, or Text. There are two round dials, one for UHF and one for VHF. Written on the upper left corner is "Sears Solid State Telecaptioner."
