  • ADB Statistics
    Statistical data covering the Asian and Pacific countries, downloadable in Excel or PDF format; provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

  • AFRICA: World Bank Africa Live Database
    Africa Live Database is a comprehensive database of macroeconomic and sectoral indicators for the Sub-Saharan countries. The database allows the data to be viewed by country as well as by indicator and allows ranking, charting and benchmarking.

  • AMERICA: Dataintal 2.0
    This site offers trade statistical information on imports and exports from 29 countries in America. The information is searchable by country (origin and destination) for the period 1980-2000. The system includes countries from the Mercosur, Nafta, Andean Community, Central American Common Market as well as Chile and Peru. Data from the countries of the CARICOM is included for selected years.

  • EUROPE: Eurobarometer
    Prepared by the Public Opinion Analysis sector of the European Commission, this site offers surveys, studies and through reports addressing issues such as citizenship, social situation, culture, environment, etc.

  • EUROPE: European Economic Information
    Europages, The European Business Directory web site provides a wide variety of information including an overview of the main European market trends with statistics, tables and graphs. Economic indicators for all the industrial, commercial and service sectors driving Europe's economy are also available.

  • EUROPE: Eurostat
    The Statistical Office of the European Communities web site includes all the latest statistical news releases of the European Union, both in HTML and Adobe Acrobat format. Also available on the site are some of the publications of Eurostat. This web site is available in English, German and French.

  • MIDDLE EAST: Islamic Countries; Statistical, Economic, and Social Research
    The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRTCIC), more commonly known within the Islamic Community as the Ankara Centre, was founded as a subsidiary organ of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in pursuance of Resolution No. 2/8-E adopted by the Eighth Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), held in Tripoli in May 1977. The Centre started its activities in Ankara on 1 June 1978. The main objectives of the SESRTCIC are to: 1. Provide socio-economic statistics 2. Study and evaluate social and economic developments 3. Organize training programs

  • Albania: Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT)
    It is an independent institution under the authority of Council of Ministers. The web site includes monthly, quarterly and yearly data on social and economic indicators. (Available in English and Albanian)

  • Algeria: National Office of Statistics
    This is the site of The National Office of Statistics, a public establishment “in charge of collecting, processing and diffusing socio-economic Statistical information. Here can be found tables with data about population, Consumer Price Index, trade, education, etc. (In English, French and Arabic).

  • Andorra: Service of Statistical Studies
    This site belongs to the Ministry of Finance. They are the coordinators of public statistical activities. The site offers all the data bases collected by the service through a “Center of Documentation”. (In Catalan)

  • Argentina: Economic and Financial Data
    Provided by the Ministry of Economy and Public Works and Services, the data is updated biweekly. Several statistics are available under the following categories: economic activity, investment, labor market, prices, foreign trade, public finance, capital market, and money and banking.   • Armenia: National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia
    As a state body, it publishes statistics for government and public use. It has a search feature that makes information easy to access.

  • Australia: Australian Bureau of Statistics
    Updated daily, this official statistical organization of the Australian government provides statistics from the key national indicators to over 160 tables providing a broad statistical picture of Australia's economic and social environment.

  • Austria: Central Statistical Office
    The website offers a wide range of statistical information including some industry specific data, demographic statistics, and economical indicators. (Available in German only)

  • Azerbaijan: State Statistical Committee
    The website provides statistical data on demographics, employment, education, healthcare, and economical indicators. (English only)

  • Bahrain: Central Statistics Organization
    The website contains statistics on economic, social, educational, and health condition of Bahrain in addition to its foreign trade figures. The website is available in English and Arabic.

  • Bangladesh: Bureau of Statistics
    Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics functions under the supervision of Ministry of Planning. The website offers statistical data and reports on several fields ranging from economics to demographics.

  • Barbados: Statistical Services
    The website offers some economic and social statistics as well as the list of reports that can be ordered. The monthly data is presented in compact tables rather than downloadable documents. (English only)

  • Belarus: Ministry of Statistics and Analysis
    The website provides main socio-economic statistical data in tables. Although the data is not downloadable, the list of the statistical reports that can be ordered is available. The site also provides links to the websites of the other CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries consisting of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.   • Belgium: Statistics Belgium
    The website is very rich in terms of the range of the statistical data provided. It provides not only data related to other countries in the world but also the links to the international, regional or country specific websites of statistical agencies. (English, French, German and Dutch)

  • Belize: Central Statistical Office
    The website presents statistical data on socio-economic indicators. Tables can be downloaded in Microsoft Excel format. Most of the data are based on the census that took place in 2000.

  • Bhutan: Planning Commission
    The commission's aim is the formulation of development strategies for the country. It features detailed long term development plans and reports(in PDF format) on development and economic issues. Data included in The Statistical Series section include the Consumer Price Index 1980-1999, labor survey data and some key statistical data for 2000. Links to other ministries and departments are featured. Also listed under Statistical Data Sources.

  • Bolivia: National Institute of Statistics (INE)
    The website provides statistics on education, health, population, migration, trade and economics. Reports and surveys are free and in PDF format. (In Spanish only)

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Agency for Statistics
    The website has very limited statistical data. Only the list of the publications is published on the website. English version is available.

  • Botswana: Central Statistics Office
    The Central Statistics Office provides Government Ministries and Departments, Non- Governmental Organizations and the public with information for monitoring, evaluation and formulation of development plans and programs.

  • Brazil: Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica
    The Brazilian Statistics Agency provides a wealth of information and statistical data including an annual survey of trade and monthly reports on the Brazilian economy. Available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

  • Bulgaria: National Statistical Institute
    This site offers comprehensive statistical information about Bulgaria. It also provides comparable statistical data for Bulgaria and other countries for use in country comparisons and analyses.

  • Cambodia: National Institute of Statistics
    The National Institute of Statistics functions as an integral part of the Ministry of Planning of Cambodia. It oversees the Social Statistics Department, the Census and Survey Department, the General Statistics Department, and the Economics Statistics Department.

  • Canada: National Statistics Agency
    Canada's National Statistics Agency offers numerous Canadian statistics including key indicators, commercial, industrial, financial, social, economic and general data. The agency also performs many surveys and researches featured in in-depth survey and research reports.

  • Canada: Strategis Canada - Economic Research and Analysis
    Provided by Industry Canada, this section provides economic information. Includes economic indicators, monthly and quarterly economic data, economic newsletters, publications, industry sector analysis and data as well as trade data for U.S. and Canada.

  • Chile: Instituto Nacional de Estadisticas
    The site for National Statistics Institute of Chile highlights the price index, employment figures, monthly indicators, regional indicators, and census figures.

  • China: National Bureau of Statistics
    The Chinese National Bureau of Statistics offers survey-indicators on the following: general survey; national accounts; population; employment and wages; investment and fixed assets; and production and consumption energy.

  • Colombia: Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadistica
    The site for the National Department of Statistics provides information of diverse statistical indexes (Spanish Only).

  • Costa Rica: Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Censos
    Costa Rica's National Institute of Statistics and Census provides information on consumer price index, census statistics, national accounts and employment statistics (Spanish Only).

  • Croatia: Bureau of Statistics
    The Croatian Bureau of Statistics provides expert work concerning preparation and carrying out of statistical surveys in the Republic of Croatia. It collects, processes, analyses and publishes statistical data on the basis of unique methodology and uniform statistical standards.

  • Cyprus: Statistical Service
    The Statistical Service Bureau of Cyprus provides information of the following economic indicators: unemployment figures, tourism, foreign trade, inflation, retail sales, and other monthly economic indicators.

  • Czech Republic: Czech Statistical Office
    An impressive collection of statistical information on the Czech Republic. The information available includes demographic, economic, and financial data, yearbooks, annual reports, news, press releases and more. A good starting point for anyone needing statistical information on the Czech Republic. Available in English, French and German.

  • Ecuador: National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC)
    The institute provides statistical data on population, censuses, consumer indices, producer indices and other demographic an economic data (in Spanish only).

  • Egypt: Ministry of Foreign Trade
    Egyptian Trade Point (ETP) provides statistical data including economic indicators, sectoral output, balance of payments, import and export figures. The Investment section provides data on investment projects and local/international participation indicators in the said projects.

  • El Salvador: Central Reserve Bank
    Provides economic and financial information as well as links to related investment sites. The Monthly Statistical Bulletin gives current information on price and production indicators, sector information and the stock market. Also provided are economic and financial data by sector and an archive of economic indicators starting from 1994. (In English and Spanish).   • Estonia: Statistical Office of Estonia
    The statistical database has extensive data on both economic and social aspects of Estonia. A wide range of indicators (economy, social, environment, population etc) is covered with some of the archived data starting from 1992. Also included are news articles and publications giving current statistical trends. (Available in Estonian and English).

  • Fiji: Fiji Islands Statistical Bureau
    FISB provides statistical figures and indicators including demographic, population, price, trade, financial and employment data. Some of the tables in the selected statistics section have data only up to 1996 and 1998.

  • Finland: Statistics Finland
    The Finland in Figures section provides statistical data on Finland’s economy and economic trends. Information covering 25 data topics includes; population, trade, energy, industry sectors, science, technology research and labor market data. The
    World in Figures section provides international statistical data for countries worldwide in downloadable Excel files.

  • Finland: The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy
    ETLA (The Research Institute of the Finnish Economy) publishes forecasts, research reports, and discussion papers in several different series. The site offers information on ETLA's researches, available reports, as well as available databases. The service is fee-based.

  • France: The French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE)
    A comprehensive collection of indicators and figures on the French economic, demographic and social aspects. The data presented includes present and historical information. Downloadable statistical documents are available in PDF format. (Available in French with some English translations of topics and descriptions).

  • Germany: Federal Statistical Office
    The site features an impressive collection of statistical information on Germany. A lot of indicators including geography, population, environment, trade, prices, wages and many more are provided in a well-organized manner. Another useful feature of the site are the up to date press releases of pertinent statistical information. (Available in German and English).

  • Greece: General Secretariat of National Statistical Service Of Greece
    Information and data for year 2002 is available from the “Press Releases” section and includes price/production indices, national accounts and the labor market. The statistical data section is still under construction but figures for 2002 are available from a downloadable PDF publication, “Greece in Figures”. Available in Greek and English.   • Guatemala: National Institute of Statistic - INE
    INE provides statistical information on Guatemala covering economic, development, financial and labor indicators. (Spanish only).

  • Hong Kong: Business-Stat Online
    This site is a search engine provided by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council with assistance from the Hong Kong SAR Government Census and Statistics Department., it provides interactive trade, service and employment statistics for Hong Kong.

  • Hong Kong: Census and Statistics Department
    Provides Hong Kong in Figures, a pocket guide to the Hong Kong economy, as well as time-series data for selected statistics. Also includes commentary and analysis. (In Chinese and in English)

  • Hungary: Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO)
    The Central Statistical Office is an independent organ operating under direct government supervision. Information provided by the site includes economic and financial data, key production and consumer indicators and news on important statistical events. (In English and Magyar).

  • Iceland: Statistics Iceland
    The site is hosted by Statistics Iceland, a government ministry and national statistical institute of Iceland. Data provided include statistics on the economy, the labor market and social affairs and is available in English and Icelandic.

  • India: Economic Data
    Provided by the Ministry of Finance this site features the latest statistics, economic surveys, and monthly economic reports published by the Indian government.

  • Indonesia: Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS)
    The Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) features a wealth of statistical data for the country sorted by sector and by region. There is also a monthly executive summary of the Indonesian macroeconomic indicators.

  • Iran: Statistical Center of Iran
    The tables featured are only for population demographics in both urban and rural areas. Historical population datasheets in PDF format are also provided.

  • Ireland: Central Statistics Office of Ireland
    The CSO is under the Ireland’s Ministry of State and co-ordinates the analysis and compilation of information relating to the economic and social life of Ireland. Featured PDF files contain detailed information covering agriculture, trade, economy, labor, prices and more. The “Statistical Yearbook of Ireland 2002” is also available online.

  • Israel: Central Bureau of Statistics
    The CBS is a government body that provides statistical information to government ministries, academic research institutions and the general public. Disseminated information includes economic and demographic data, price indices, labor figures and more. Monthly bulletins in Excel and PDF format are also available online. (In Hebrew and English).

  • Italy: Istat - National Institute of Statistics
    The official statistics agency of the country. The site offers up to date data on a wide variety of social, demographic, economic, and labor indicators, as well as documents giving quick overview of the Italian economy. In English and Italian.

  • Jamaica: Statistical Institute of Jamaica
    The Statistical Institute falls under the Ministry of Planning and Finance. It provides statistical data on demographics, employment and labor, consumer prices, production and trade in Jamaica.

  • Japan: Japan Information Network - Statistics
    A Japanese statistical source from the Japan Information Network. This site updates all statistical data the same month, or the month after to create an up-to-date source on all types of Japanese statistics. The statistics are categorized and a search option is available.

  • Japan: Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) Statistics
    Statistical releases from METI. Includes sector statistics as well as a general survey of commerce. Continuously updated with new releases.

  • Japan: Ministry of Finance Statistics
    Statistics from the Japanese government regarding in-flows and out-flows to and from Japan. The statistics are very detailed and include topics such as Foreign Direct Investment and Balance of Payments.

  • Japan: Statistics Japan
    The official Statistics Bureau of the Japanese Government. Includes recent stat releases, survey results, and vital stats for Japan.

  • Jordan: Department of Statistics
    The Jordan Department of Statistics (DOS) is a government agency that provides data on a national level. The data includes selected indicators, population, employment, history and economic indicators provided under the “Jordan in Figures” section. Publications are available for a fee.   • Kazakhstan: Agency for Statistics
    The agency is a government department that collects and disseminates statistical information to the government, economic circles and the general community. Information provided covers economic, demographic and development indicators. (In Russian only).

  • Kuwait: Ministry of Planning
    Featured in the Statistical section of the site is a statistical database and statistical publications. Indicators and figures provided cover trade, economic, finance, financial and industry sector data. (Available in English and Arabic).

  • Kyrgyzstan: National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic
    The national statistical agency of the Kyrgyz Republic, this site houses both the first Population census and the first agricultural census in the country's history (1999). Also, the site provides an overview of the economic situation of the republic. (Also available in Russian)

  • Latvia: Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia
    The official statistics agency for Latvia provides population and socio-economic indicators for the country. Also available are basic indicators such as quarterly export and import numbers, as well as retail trade turnover. (Also available in Latvian)

  • Lebanon: Central Administration for Statistics
    This is the official statistics site of the government of Lebanon. It provides information on population, agriculture, land use, retail prices, and much more. Also, foreign trade and key economic measures make up a large portion of the information. (Available in Arabic and French)

  • Lithuania: Department of Statistics to the government of the Republic of Lithuania
    This is the official site of the statistics agency of Lithuania. Along with statistics such as population, natural resources, and geography, this site also provides links to the national population and agricultural censuses.

  • Luxembourg: National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC)
    The official statistics bureau for Luxembourg, this site contains relevant statistics regarding population, geography, and the likes. Although this site is translated into English, some sections are only available in French. (Also available in French and German)

    This site has a database of external trade statistics that is searchable and where “you can obtain detailed and most up-to-date external trade statistics.   • Malaysia: Department of Statistics
    The official statistical organization of the Malaysian government provides a rich set of information about the country, its people and economy through a variety of news releases, reports, key facts and figures, and other summary documents. Provided both in English and in Malay.

    A “must visit” site if you are doing business in Mexico, it has comprehensive archive of all relevant Mexican statistics and economic information. Although this link is to the English portion of the site, the information is also available in Spanish.

  • Micronesia: Information on the Federal States of Micronesia
    The only official provider of statistics for the Federal States of Micronesia, this site gives information about the people, geography, and economy of the country. It also provides historical overviews and other information about the country.

    As a department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Statistics Netherlands is the official statistics provider for the Netherlands. Here you will find population, geographic, and economic data for the country. (Available in Dutch)

  • Nicaragua: Instituto Nacional de Estadisicticas y Censos

  • Papua New Guinea: National Statistical Office
    Established in 1981, this agency is the official provider of statistics for Papua New Guinea. Here you can find key economic, social, and political statistics for the country.

  • Peru: National Statistics Institute
    This site is only available in Spanish, includes demographic, economic, and geographic statistics. A great site for those interested in finding statistics about Peru.

  • Philippines: National Statistics Office
    Along with national statistics, this site, the official statistical bureau of the Republic of the Philippines, also provides statistics across economic sectors.

  • Poland: Polish Official Statistics
    From the first Polish statistical yearbook in 1921, the statistical agency for Poland has been keeping track of key statistical indicators. On this site you will find key economic, political, and social indicators. (Also available in Polish)

  • Portugal: National Institute of Statistics
    Along with general statistics, this site also provides most data in time series format. Also, a number of the statistical tables are available for download in Excel format.

  • Romania: National Institute of Statistics
    The site of the NIS of Romania is the entity in charge of collecting, processing and disseminating reliable statistical data and research of the country. Its site has macroeconomic indicators starting from 1998, press releases, and valuable information about the country.

  • Russia: State Committee of the Russian Federation on Statistics
    This federation is in charge of providing the general public “diverse, objective and exhaustive” statistical information.

  • Saudi Arabia: U.S. – Saudi Arabian Business Council
    This organization has the objective of promoting trade and investment between Saudi Arabia and US. Their site provides with facts about Saudi Arabia as well as detailed information about the Saudi Arabian economy (budget, foreign investment act, economic indicators, etc.).

  • Serbia and Montenegro: Federal Statistics Office
    This site provides reports for basic statistics. Most of the reports are in pdf format in English and Serbo-Croatian. Some of the links are broken, but the available reports are very beneficial.

  • Seychelles: Statistics and database administration Section
    This site belongs to the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication of Seychelles, their objective is to provide economic and social statistics. They conduct several statistics and surveys such as: National Accounts, employment/labor, tourism, demography, price, census, etc. Most information is free, some statistical publications are sold through this site

  • Sierra Leone: STATISTICS SIERRA LEONE
    This is the official statistics site of Sierra Leone, it has current statistical indicators, population and housing census, GDP trends, and relevant statistical publications.

  • Singapore: Statistics Singapore
    The site for the official statistics bureau of Singapore. Provides a wide array of statistical resources and data such as: GDP, external trade and manufacturing, employment, price index, etc. It also has a catalog of publications that can be ordered through the site.

  • Slovakia: Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic
    This is the site of the official statistics of the Slovak Republic, it has in-depth detailed data in the form of reports. It offers data on the main economic indicators such as: industry, telecommunications, foreign trade, GDP, etc. It also provides access to the latest census and some international statistics. Besides these tasks of official statistics the SO SR is responsible for specific task in the field of preparation of elections and referendums and processing of results. (In English and Slovak)

  • Spain: Instituto Nacional de Estadistica
    This is the official statistical source for Spain, it contains updated and detailed information for the major economic indicators and the census. This is a very comprehensive site that also offers a wide catalogue of publications. Most of the data is searchable online by categories. (In Spanish and English)

    A great site provided by the government of Sri Lanka. Statistics include demographic, social, and economic indicators. Especially interesting and useful is the Trend at a Glance category in which statistics are compared from 1948 (the year of independence) to 1998.

    Provides high level indicators and in-depth statistical information. Site presents some information on line and other detail statistics and customized services are offered at a fee. This site belongs to the Swiss Federal Statistics Office.

  • Taiwan: Customs Statistics
    Provided by the Trade Point Taiwan, the site includes statistics under: Monthly country customs statistics, product ranking by country, comparative tables. Data is also searchable by product or country.

    The Bureau of DGBAS (consists of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics)provides statistical information on Taiwan.

    The Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade tracks U.S. trade in the Western Hemisphere. The web site provides graphical analysis of their index, an explanation for the index as well as the raw data for U.S. trade statistics.

STAT-USA gathers the most crucial and timely trade, business and economic information from over 50 Federal agencies. Providing quick and easy access to thousands of files, including trade statistics, overseas contacts, market research reports and daily foreign and domestic procurement opportunities. This service, although offered for an annual fee, is highly recommended for businesspeople or researchers in international trade.

  • USA: The Conference Board Business Cycle Indicators
    The Conference Board's leading cycle index plays a prominent role in forecasting business cycles, other leading indicators, the associated coincident and lagging indexes, and over 200 other important economic series. The site also carries description of the composite index methodology and guides on using economic data. Most of the information can only be accessed through a fee-based subscription.

    T-I-P of the Iceberg information center allows the user to analyze trade between the U.S. and each nation of the world. Also gives trade statistics and projections for numerous U.S. air gateways and sea gateways. There is a free sample, but the site uses a fee-based subscription. Available in English and Spanish.

    A vast amount of trade related information from one of the offices of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Includes over 90 tables of statistics for major manufacturing groups and products, employment, wages, capital expenditures and trade; up-to-date monthly analysis of U.S. trade balances with tables on goods trade; exports by state to the world and selected markets; an export performance report on over 250 U.S. cities; and over 100 tables of goods and services trade by country and region.
