CLiCk, Speak User Manual
Introduction:
The Mozilla Firefox “bundle” offers users a
variety of features that can provide assistance to accessing web-based content.
This browser provides features such as text-to-speech, text magnification, PDF
file conversion for a text-to-speech function, and CLC Star, a page layout and
visual presentation customization application.
**NOTE:
Some systems may require up to 3 minutes to activate
the Click,Speak program. Please be patient and give it time!! You will see the
Firefox Web Browser at the top of the page when it is ready.
Text to Speech:
Reading with a simple interface -
CLiCk, Speak is designed to be as easy to use for sighted users as possible. The
interface is completely mouse driven; there's no need to remember any key
combinations. Reading through a page is as simple as placing the cursor and
hitting the GO button; reading a selection is as easy as highlighting the text
and hitting the SPEAK button. This feature will enable a user who needs text to
speech support to access it easily.

Choose the Click ,Speak application run the
program

An address slot will appear where you can
type in a web address

Below the address slot is a CLiCk, Speak
toolbar

The icons in the toolbar control the
commands of the application

Speak Selection
CLiCk, Speak will say what you have selected by highlighting.

Auto Reading Mode
CLiCk, Speak will read through the entire page, starting from your current
position. To get current position click your mouse pointer where you want the
program to begin reading.

Stop Speaking
CLiCk, Speak will stop talking. This will also turn off Auto Reading mode.
How to Adjust
the Voice Selection, Voice speed and Volume of SAPI 5 Voices:
For "Fire Vox" and "CLiCk, Speak"

Click on the Windows "Start" button;

Click on "Control Panel;"
-
If the following window displays click on
"Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices." If not go to step 6.

Click on the Speech Icon. It looks like
this:

If the following window displays
double-click the "Speech" icon.

The following dialog box will display:

-
You now have access to "Voice Selection,"
and "Voice speed."

To set the volume click on the "Audio
Output..." button... then click on the "Volume" button. You will be provided
access to the Windows Master Volume dialog box. You can change your audio
setting here.
Changing
Voice Speed:
-
To change the voice speed, click and drag
the arrow across the speed indicator bar.

Click on the preview voice button to hear
your preferences.

To control the volume of your computer,
click on the audio output button.
-
Now click on volume. Make sure the
playback column is not muted and is turned up.

Select OK.
-
Close the playback control, output
settings, speech properties, and control panel boxes.
-
Your computer will save your preferences
until you change them again.
Magnification
-
Control “+” to enlarge page
-
Control “-“ to shrink page
These settings are only temporary. They will
not be saved to your SmartDrive. To save settings, go to CLC Star application.
Word Resources

Alt + Click on a word = Thesaurus
-
CTRL + Click on word = WikiPedia
-
Shift + Click on word = Dictionary
PDF File Conversion

Click tab on the toolbar named “Open a PDF
File” 
-
It will provide a space for you to browse
for the PDF file you want to open.
-
Select the file and it will automatically
run.
-
Use functions to CLiCk, Speak to assist you
in reading your PDF file.
CLC Star:
Preferences for how you want pages presented to you while using a browser.

Preferences CLC Star provide include:

Enlarging images
-
Increasing font size
-
Changing font style (bold and san serif)
-
Changing font and background color
-
Enhancing the focus indicator
-
Increasing line spacing
-
Increasing word spacing
-
Disabling stylesheets
-
Disabling background images
-
To configure your preferences in CLC STAR,
in Firefox, go to:
-
"Tools", "CLC STAR Options". Please note
that your changes will take not take effect until the next page load.

You have a button for enabling/disabling
CLC STAR, in Firefox. It is the blue “CLC star” button
located
to the right of the red button.
When you click on this button, it will enable/disable CLC STAR. When CLC
STAR is disabled, the star will be blue on a transparent background; when it
is enabled, it will be yellow on a black background. Enabling/disabling CLC
STAR will cause the webpage to be reloaded.
